Oh boy, it has been quiet here for a long time, hasn’t it? Now I’m back, hopefully :)
First I would like to keep a promise given long time ago – Sunshine tote pattern. As this is my first pattern in English, I wanted it to be perfect. It probably isn’t, but I tried :)
Three years ago we had a bag project – “12 bags” – initialized by Marianne. She suggested that anyone joining this project should make 1 bag every month of the year and each month had a special theme. The theme of July was “Päike ja äike” (Sun and thunder). So, as the first tote I made was yellow like Sun, I named this bag Sunshine tote.
The first Sunshine tote was crocheted/knitted of stash yarn I had at home. It was probably acrylic. For the last version I used Aade Artistic yarn. To make the tote stronger and denser, I’m going to felt it a bit by washing and rubbing it in hot soapy water. Lining the tote is optional. As I find sewing very difficult, I will leave it without a lining.
The pattern is availalble as a free Ravelry download. Hope you like it :) If you find an error or in case of any problems or questions, please contact me.
Wow, wow, wow. I love this bag-it is fabulous! I have read your instructions [in English of course, I’m afraid Finnish is not in my repetoire : ) ] and they look perfect. Compliments on your design and on your English. I’m going to enjoy looking for the perfect yarn to make this bag.
Thank you Webbytal :)
Looks great. I’m going to try it with Omega Nylon yarn and see what I get. I love the color gradations…like a sun exploding.
Thank you Morninglori :) Can’t wait to see your result :)

Love this bag, I hope I can find a similar yarn. Thank you so much!
I love this bag and hope to make several for gifts. What yarn do you recommend to get the coloring pattern as pictured in the blue? I’m planning to do one in a blue/purple, yellow/ orange, different greens and maybe one in brown earth tones.
This Sunshine Tote bag is gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing this free pattern.
Love your Sunshine Tote! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely work. So many possibilities. Thank you for getting me “Fired Up”! I spent a very pleasant evening with you reading your Archives and looking at the wonderful pictures. You are indeed an inspriration. Thanks a million!

Thank you so much for this pattern! The Sunshine Tote is my favorite bag EVER! I made my first one about 3 years ago. As a test to see how much stuff I could cram in, I put my bed pillow in the bag! Since then, I’ve made about a dozen of these bags as gifts for friends. They love them as much as I do.
